| The front of Bates School on May 20, 2004 from below the hill on the school drive. On the hill in the front of the school you can now make out the basketball and volley ball courts, you couldn't see them before the bushes were all cut. |

| The front of Bates School in 2003, and as you can see you could hardly see the building from the road. On April 29th, 2004 a group of volunteers did a great job of cleaning up and mowing down all the brush and high weeds around the building and on the hill in front. Also the drive was graded with new gravel spread. What a difference their work made ! |

| A class in front of Bates School in 1947. Edna Ward was the teacher, she is on the right side. Girl in front row on left is Priscilla Shelton. Her father, Rev. Gene Shelton, is the minister in the Shadley Creek baptism on page 2 of the Yesteryear section of this site. On the second row, left to right is one of the Ward boys, next is Sally Ann Cope, and 3rd girl is Shirley Shelton. On third row, left to right is Dorothy Johnson and boy in overalls next to her is Joe Brazil.
